Gold bullion bar

There are cast gold ingot/bars (cast bar 1st, 2nd images), and there are minted gold bars (3rd image). It is believed nowadays that, although the cast bar certainly looks more traditionally appealing, the minted bars are more liquid_able, especially the smaller ones that are less than 5oz. Well, normally, the gold bullion bars are not measured in oz. They are mostly measured by grams (unlike gold coins). Gold ounce is not the normal ounce. 1 gold ounce (called Troy ounce) is 31 something grams. While the normal weight ounce is 28 something grams. So 5oz gold, you do the math.

The popular bars are the ones from two biggest Swiss banks: (2nd largest Credit Suisse; 1st largest UBS). The 3rd image is a 1oz PAMP suisse mint bar. It is important that they are left inside their original package untouched and original sealed.

But finally, it is also normally believed that bars are not as liquid as bullion Coins. I don't buy any bars because of that. (They are however a little bit closer to the melt price comparing to coin. Meaning, a bit cheaper to get).
