It's time to buy a better suit. I gave mine to St Vincent de Paul because it no longer fits. It was very seldom worn. The guy at St Vincent de Paul told me I should (next time) sell it to them instead of giving it to them for free.
Since I only need 1 suit, so the budget can be a little bit higher than I normally permit. So I did a study. It turned out the best men's formal dress store in Australia is Henry Bucks. (Downtown Sydney 23-25 O’Connell Street).
They have Canali, Zegna, etc. Then again. Canali has a boutique at the Sydney Hospital side of Martin Place. And Zegna has a boutique in Pitts St as well as a dedicated section in David Johns men building (better of the two).
(Image above, showing the model wearing a Super 130 wool taupe gray window check Canali Suit, and an overcoat made in Austria.) I don't quite understand ... I don't quite understand this super number used for Wool. What's connection between super number and the wool micron and spin count? I only know that, the higher the super number the lighter and thinner the wool fabric. And also higher the price. But don't forget also, higher the super number, less durable the cloth. Therefore, super number is not a very accurate marks for the quality of the wool.
In David John Zegna section, there is a lovely White Hair Zegna guy looks almost identical to the KFC old men (Kentucky Fried Chicken) over there. He told me the new season is coming soon, so I can have a look then for more choices. So Canali seems to look better quality feel; Zegna seems better styled at waist.
For those guys who considered Amarni, Prada, and Boss, they are all in the City and Martin Place. But Canali and Zegna do seem to have more value, especially in terms of fabric. Beside, for these 3, especially Boss, it seems the cut is, to me, too, how do I put it, too geometric at the intersect of shoulder and the sleeve. That way,it just doesn't look like they have much tradition in Suit making.

ReplyDeleteBesides Henry Bucks I'd suggest one fashion shopping store in Sidney. I often buy clothes there, and when I'm not in Sidney, I sometimes look online for new collections. Good site.
ReplyDeleteThere exists a broad range of search opportunities in New Zealand, from gentle bush clad flatlands in the high alpine mountains on the Southern Alps..
