Olympus E-PL1 gear and testing

Got a Olympus E-PL1 today to take the advantages of micro 4/3, some of which DSLR doesn't possess.
Here is E-PL1 with its kit lens 14-42mm f/3.5-5.8.

Olympus 14-42mm does pretty good macro at 42mm end (f/5.8). And it focuses very close to the object. This is taken at 42mm end f5.8 with the closest focus on the camera's user manual.

This is the famous E-PL1 + Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 combo, the top combo of the micro 4/3 format.

This is taken with the E-PL1 + 20mm combo, focusing at the mode dial of Nikon D90.

This is Tokina 80-400mm on E-PL1 via the Nikon mount (G lens compatible) lens adapter for Olympus Pen. Looking ridiculous as it seems, it actually makes sense. As now, 80-400mm of Tokina can take the advantage of E-PL1's in-body image stabilizer. Have a look at a test here.

This is taken hand held in a dark room with Tokina 80-400mm on E-PL1, with the IS level set to 3 (the highest). Totally usable. With no monopod, tripods hassle. (Update: the IS level should have been set to Level 2 as there is no different in the IS amount, only direction between level 2 and 3.)

This is Tokina 12-24mm on EPL1. Looks pretty cool, but doesn't make sense, due to the available Olympus kit lens 14-42mm.

Nikon 18-200mm on E-PL1. Nah...

Olympus E-PL1 gear and testing

Nikon 50mm 1.8D on E-PL1 becomes 100mm, and f/1.8. Alright. Will try a lot of this combo.

Olympus E-PL1 gear and testing

Nikon 35mm 1.8G on E-PL1, maybe not, doesn't really worth the lens transfer from 14-42mm.

But while it (Nikon 35mm 1.8G) is on E-PL1, why not take a shot of Nikon D90. There are several visible Chromatic on the big white 'Nikon' label, and some on the shutter button. But I have taken care of them in PP with Adobe Bridge CS5 - ACR. Another reason, won't be using Nikon 35mm on E-PL1 (much).

Introducing, my first SLR camera, a Chinese made Seagull DF-2 (bought in 1992 new in Beijing), with Seagull 50mm 1.8. Seagull has the same lens mount as Minolta. So the lens can be used on Minolta. Believe it or not, the lens got an optic award of some kind in Europe in early 1990's. That was very unusual, the other lens manufacturer of China who got a lens award in Europe is called Phoenix, who is known to make 4/3 format film cameras then. my father has one of those Phoenix 4/3 cameras, which makes almost no shutter noise of any kinds due to obviously the lack of mirror... This Seagull camera no longer works since 2000, it is now only a decoration. I even wash it under the running tap water...

  2. Yes, not AF and AE. You can change aperture if the lens has aperture ring. Have a look at this. http://www.huatongoversea.com/blog/?p=458

  4. I sent photo from vault on my apple iphone, anybody receiving it on their iphone 3gs possessed typically the message "missing plug-in", and no image ended up being attached. Exactly what connect is necessary, and its particular the idea essential on their cellphone, or maybe would it be something should have been sent while using photo? ralph lauren outlet http://intravnews.com/partners.aspx/#ralphlaurenoutlet25
