Tokina 100mm f 2.8 Macro 20 Jul 2011

Finally got a dedicated macro lens. Tokina 100mm f 2.8 macro like all Tokina lens is built like a tank.

From left to right, Tokina 12-24mm f 4, Tokina 100mm f 2.8 macro, and Tokina 80-400mm.

I like all Tokina lens, they are better built, much smaller, and normally half the price. Optically, they are comparable. Maybe there is a little bit of glare or CA when you are facing the sun. But people normally don't shot facing their lens at the sun. And if it accidentally happens, they can be of course fixed in ACR.

Build quality and small factor alone are worthy enough for me.

This is Tokina 100mm f 2.8 macro with Kenko 1.4x pro tube attached. This enables even larger macro.

4. Nikon 35mm f 1.8 G with Nikon BR-2A reverse ring

So Tokina 100mm f 2.8 macro as a dedicated macro lens, the macro image quality of course is better than using Canon 250 D on Nikon 50mm f 1.8 G and by using Nikon BR-2A.

Despite that Nikon BR-2A reverse ring on Nikon 35mm f 1.8 still got the largest macro, Tokina 100mm f 2.8 still much more convenient to use. So I will be using Tokina 100mm f 2.8 and Kenko 1.4x to take macro.

Maybe the next thing I will try is to attach the Canon 250 D on Tokina 100mm f 2.8 + Kenko 1.4x.
But to do that, I will need a 55mm to 52mm step down ring. Will get it from ebay later.

This is a whole coin view with Tokina 100mm
